Brody Condon constructs situations to explore human experience and dissociative phenomena, often involving synthesis of role-playing and collective, participatory performance. Since 2002 his work has spanned digital gaming interventions to large-scale role-playing events.

A four day live role-playing game for 25 players set the bogland of Västra Götaland, Sweden.
A collaboration with Adam James, in partnership with the Borås Textile Museum and Skogen.
Future Gestalt
A series of unscripted live role-playing sessions featuring modified Gestalt therapy, carnivorous plants, and a sentient polygonal sculpture.

Neuronal role-playing for 10 players using a modified prediction processing model.

Level Five
A series of large-scale live action role playing events investigating the ideological legacy of controversial 1970s self-actualization seminars.

Zeigarnik Effect
Live role-playing sessions facilitated by a sentient sculptural ‘entity’ in a fictional world revolving around a cognitive phenomenon first observed by 20th century psychologist Bluma Zeigarnik.
A commission by Momentum 8: The Nordic Biennial of Contemporary Art.
Velvet Strike
Velvet-Strike is a mod of the first-person shooter video game Counter-Strike. The mod adds “protest sprays” to the game’s existing graffiti function.

A performance using a collection of found videos of individuals describing and experiencing the effects of a dissociative substance as choreography and script.

A series of social psychology experiment modifications based on Terror Management Theories in evolutionary psychology.

About
Brody Condon (born 1974 Mexico) is an American artist facilitating and documenting game-like group encounters that experientially probe dissociative phenomena, critical psychology, and performance art history. The resulting immersive situations, video and objects are often made in collaboration with researchers, craftspeople, and public participants. Condon was previously a media arts professor at the University of California San Diego, and has presented artist lectures and workshops internationally at art departments and institutions such as MoMA, Columbia University, and the New School in New York, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, RCA London, and CCA Glasow in the UK, Yale School of Art, RCA Stockholm, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and many others.
