Bio

Brody Condon’s (1974 Mexico) early work is best known for its influential exploration of contemporary art and games. The projects included computer game modifications, interventions in online games, and live role-playing events. This early interest in our relation with the screen and fluid subjectivity evolved to facilitating and documenting game-like situations that dig deeper into dissociative phenomena.

Relevant projects include performative workshops on the hidden states underlying delusion formation with Yale neuroscientist Philip Corlett (Prediction Error, 2020-2021); group encounter sessions set in the far future, led by a monumental sculpture at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Future Gestalt, 2012); mortality salience experiments with public participants at the Athens Biennial, Greece (Response Priming, 2018), and exploring shifts in the narrative self via durational role-play at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles and the Berlin Biennial, Germany (Level Five, 2010 and 2016).

Condon is a media arts lecturer at the University of California San Diego, and has presented artist lectures and workshops internationally at art departments and institutions such as MoMA, Columbia University, and the New School in New York, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, RCA London, and CCA Glasow, Yale School of Art, RCA Stockholm, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and many others.
